Mental Health Legislation
This Mental Health Legislation eLearning course looks at some of the background and history of mental health legislation in the UK.
Training objectives:
- Define mental disorder
- Distinguish between what is and is not covered by the Mental Health Act
- Explain the history of and changes to mental health legislation in the UK
- Recognise what criteria must be met in relation to the appropriate treatment test
- Identify what is meant by medical treatment
Mental health within health and social care
This course has been developed in partnership with Accomplish, a specialist provider of support for over 1,000 people with autism, mental health needs, learning disabilities and acquired brain injuries. Together, we aim to raise the profile of mental health.
Training objectives:
- Recognise how someone may feel if they have mental health conditions such as: psychosis, depression, anxiety
- Discover how positive attitudes towards those with mental health conditions improve the care and support they receive
- Identify adjustments that might need to be made to the way care and support is provided if someone has mental health conditions such as: psychosis, depression, anxiety
How to support yourself and others with mental health
We all need mental health support, and we can all offer support to others.
In this module:
- Explore how most types of mental ill-health can be prevented by offering early intervention, and prevention is always better than cure.
